If you are unable to log into your Windows system via Remote Access, it’s possible the password on the account created for you when the system was deployed has expired. This is very easy to reset on your own.
Create a Custom RDP connection to your system; use Administrator on a standard Windows system and use usaf_admin on a USAF Standard Desktop.
The Administrator password will have been automatically set to the password you specified when you created your system. You can see this password by:
- From the main menu click Runs
- Click on the Deployment Run with the password problem
- Click the host with the password problem
- On the host details page, click Show under Credentials to view the admin credentials
Once you’ve connected to your Windows system as an Administrator using your Custom RDP connection:
- Go to Administrative Tools, and then Computer Management.
- Select Local Users and Groups, and then select Users.
- Under the Users section, find your user account, right click and select Properties.
- Uncheck User must change password at next logon, and click Ok.
Once done, you should now be able to log in again as the existing user account and password. You can also optionally select Password never expires from this same Properties screen so it will never expire.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using a Windows domain environment as part of your Deployment, you may need to contact the Administrator of your Domain to make these settings for you inside the Domain.
