Register a New OS Template
This article assumes that an OS template has been created already, and needs to be registered to your Arcus Cloudspace.
- Log in to cloud infrastructure backend (AWS, vCloud, Openstack, Azure, etc.)
- On the OS template that you’d like to register, add the meta data tag:
cons3rtenabled=true
- Log in to Arcus
- From the main navigation menu, select Cloudspaces
- Select the Cloudspace that you’d like to register the new OS template
- Click on the OS Templates tab
- On the drop-down menu, select Unregistered
- Click the Refresh button, this will load any new template with the
cons3rtenabled=true
meta data tag applied - You should now see your newly created OS template on the Unregistered list
- Click the Register button next to the OS template you’d like to register
- Fill in the details. Keep in mind the CPU/RAM values are the maximum allowable for your Cloudspace
- Click Submit to register your template
Note: The OS template is registered and offline, see the next sections to publish and share the template.
Publish the OS Template
Publishing an OS template makes it available for users to deploy in the Cloudspace
- From the main navigation menu, select Cloudspaces
- Select the Cloudspace that you’d like to register the new OS template
- Click on the OS Templates tab
- Next to the a registered OS template, click Publish to make the OS template available for user deployments
Share the OS Template to other Cloudspaces
- From the main navigation menu, select Cloudspaces
- Select the Cloudspace that you’d like to register the new OS template
- Click on the OS Templates tab
- Next to the a registered OS template, click Share
- Type in the Cloudspace names to share the OS template with. As you type names, they should auto-complete for you.
Note: When a template is shared to another Cloudspace, the Cloudspace admins in that Cloudspace must subscribe to and publish the shared templates to make them available to users.
Take an OS Template “Offline”
You can take an OS template offline any time in your cloudspace. This is useful when performing maintenance tasks on a template, or simply making a template unavailable for any reason.
- From the main navigation menu, select Cloudspaces
- Select the Cloudspace that you’d like to register the new OS template
- Click on the OS Templates tab
- Next to the a registered OS template, click Offline
Subscribe to a Shared OS Template
When a Cloudapace admin shared an OS template with your cloudspace, you can choose to subscribe to and publish that template in your own cloudspace. To subscribe to a shared OS template:
- From the main navigation menu, select Cloudspaces
- Select the Cloudspace that you’d like to register the new OS template
- Click on the OS Templates tab
- Select Templates Shared with You
- Next to a shared OS template, click Subscribe
- Click Publish on the same OS template to make it available in your cloudspace
