Data Storage Service permissions
If users can’t see the Add button next to the Storage section, they likely lack the necessary permissions in Arcus.
If you are a user, contact your Arcus Project Owner or Team Manager to expand your permissions.
If you are the Project Owner, update the permissions as described in this KB article. Any Standard (i.e., non-Express) user can create a bucket. To share a bucket with other project members, users will need the permissions highlighted in red below.
Data Storage Service Virus/Malware Scanning
By default, all uploaded files are scanned for malicious elements, viruses, and malware before being allowed into the Data Storage Service.
When scanning is enabled, the option to “Disable virus and malware scanning on uploaded files” will be greyed out and unselectable. To allow for customer use cases involving malware upload and testing, Arcus Team Managers have the option to disable virus and malware scanning for their team.
Once the Team Manager has disabled virus and malware scanning at the team level, all users with the permissions to create or edit a Storage Bucket can disable scanning via the toggle as shown.
Object Versions
By default, object/blob versions as disabled in Storage Buckets, and older versions are not kept. If you require object versions please send us a support ticket with the specific version and retention period requirements.
Using the Data Storage Service with the Express User Interface
The first step towards using the Data Storage Service in the Express User Interface (EUI) is to make a bucket available to the Express Users.
Note: Only a single bucket can be made available to Express Users in a specific project. Express Users can only upload data to their assigned bucket, and cannot utilize the download functionality of the Data Storage Service.
Setting up a bucket for Express Users
- Select the bucket that should be made available to the Express User
- Click the ellipsis on the right side of the respective bucket and select Edit
- Under Sharing make the bucket writable
- Under Sharing, enable the toggle to set this bucket as the Default storage location for Express Users.
Uploading files as an Express User
- As an Express User, click the Upload Files button in the upper right of the screen
- Either drag and drop, or select the file to be uploaded into the pop-up dialog box
- The box will display a green check when the file is successfully uploading, and will send an email to your registered address when the file upload is complete.
Note: Smaller files (under 100mb) will typically be uploaded within seconds. Larger files may take longer to upload into the desired Arcus bucket.
